Question: importing recordings into NextPVR

Hi everyone

I have a simple request... I need to import a lot of shows recorded with ArgusTV (mainly MPG/TS format with no metadata) into NextPVR.

The only thing I really want from this process is to be able to group the shows under their title so they will show up grouped in XBMC (which is my TV watching frontend).

What is the best way to accomplish this task with NextPVR?

Is there some sort of file in Argus that holds the list of recording? ie, show titles and descriptions etc. If so, and you can post a sample file, we can see if we can use it to make a file NextPVR could import.

Most of the recordings are a mess as they were made with previous installs of Argus and have no metadata and appear in argus as their filenames only. Getting these to show up in Argus grouped under show titles seems to be very difficult so I wanted to see if it is any easier with NextPVR?

Have a look at vidimport http://www.nextpvr.com/nwiki/pmwiki.php?....VidImport
I use it and it seems to work quite well. I'm not sure if it groups shows by name or the directory they are in though. If the show title doesn't appear in the filename then I guess it won't do what yo want though.
If you backup your npvr.db3 database file beforehand you can always get back after experimenting.

Plus, NextPVR has a Videos menu option that will display folders (and folders within folders) and the files in folders. This might be a way to go if your video files are already arranged in folders (or if you can make it so).
