Live TV shows you whats currently being recorded

I have a single Nova-T tuner setup.

You have a programme currently being recorded.

Selecting "Live TV" gives you an error "No capture-source was available to enable you to watch the requested channel".

To watch what is currently being recorded requires - recordings -> pending -> select recording show -> play

Suggestion:-
Wouldn't it be much better under a 1 tuner card setup if Live TV showed you what is currently being recorded rather than gaving a non-too wife friendly error message?

I have a Tivo (hopefully to be replaced with gb-pvr) which is high on WAF and it behaves in this way and seems very logical and easy to use.

Having to explain that you need to navigate as above to watch what its currently recording is not easy

It's always more jarring when you're watching and it starts recording. I always think it just crashed.

It would be nice to have an option to open and play the recording file automatically if you're watching live tv. Being shifted automatcially wouldn't be bad, since you're going to be watching nothing anyway. Also, it's always a pain if you're recording something next on same channel, and it doesn't just continue letting you watch.

How true.. I assume a multi-tuner setup just starts recording on the unused tuner, or does it? I almost think putting two more PVR150s in my box will keep my wife from even knowing the recordings are happening, so long as no more than 2 things are set to record at one time.

It would be nice to be notified some how on the screen when there is a recording, on my cable provider provided DVR it has a RED LED on the front. I know there is a LCD plug-in, but something on the LiveTV screen would be nice.

Yup. multituner setups allow you to record on one tuner, and watch via the second.
The "Next Recording" panel shows if a show is being recorded or not.
In the default Blue skin, it's disabled, because it doesn't work with the Media MVP yet.
You can enable it easily.
Not sure how well it could be adapted to the LiveTV screen though...maybe just another little red button, like an LED somewhere...
