As Whurlston has gone on extended walkabout / been kidnapped by aliens; I finally answered my questions above, so here are some usage notes.
1. The files on the Wiki are the original first release, from just over a year ago - non of the enhancements / progress mentioned in posts in this thread have been released. (as far as I am aware)
2. You must use Java SE Runtime Environment 7 (JRE 7u80 works) - JRE8 causes NextPVR to crash with a C++ error, if you try to open a bluray or bluray iso.
3. There is an updated dslibbluray on sourceforge - Test288.zip (see link above) but even though Blurays will actually play with this and JRE 8 - most other functions (skipping, chapters etc.) cause NextPVR to crash. Obviously it will need compiling with "Whurlstons Magic Stuff" added.
4. You will need a shortcut to the Bluray Drive in Videos (DVD Menu Item not yet implemented)
5. You need to disable Monitor / Computer sleep whilst watching using this plugin.
In short, it works quite well as is - as long as you use Java 7, but if Whurlston is ever returned to us to continue development, or someone else could take up the challenge, it could be amazing.

It's not an overly complicated system - it's more - overly simple operatives
