Audio Skipping Issue Live TV

@johnsonx42: If you set ForcedLiveTVClock as specified, what happens to live TV from an analog tuner that encodes audio as MPEG, silent or choppy? (I have no analog channels here.)

As I said, if you force the live tv clock to AC3, it will fix the problem for channels with AC3 audio but then MPEG channels will have the same problem. I found nothing that would solve this issue for both types of channels at the same time, so as I had far fewer analog channels I simply didn't watch analog channels live.

I don't have analog channels but I have a bunch of channels with MPEG stereo audio, and I haven't had any snc issues since I started using AC3Filter for mpeg audio as well.

I had AC3Filter for both MPEG and AC3, it didn't help. This problem doesn't seem to happen in all scenarios, we never figured out why.

I didn't expect to see this much activity for this thread. I made the change to my setup lastnight, but wasn't able to actually watch TV. I did a quick test for a few minutes and it appeared to be working, but will test more tonight. Should I also modify my Config.xml as described in the older post? Thanks.

The advantage of the Config.xml setting is that you could keep MPEG1 enabled without suffering the issue with 2-channel AC3 streams when watching live TV. If you have a need for MPEG1, e.g. you want to play recordings made with an analog tuner in NextPVR (it would be very surprising if you have a QAM channel with MPEG1 audio), then you can edit Config.xml with Notepad. Just be careful to save as .xml rather than defaulting to .txt.

Then you don't have any audio stream with 2-channel AC3, probably all 6-channel. You would only get the issue with MPEG1 if you changed Config.xml to benefit AC3.

I do have 2-channel AC3 audio too on some channels, but I haven't modified config.xml. It's a long time since I'v had the sync issue, but I'm pretty sure it disappared when I discovered that AC3Filter could be used for mpeg audio too. I remember having to set it manually in config.xml before Sub implemented the ability to choose AC3Filter for mpeg audio.

No, the issue we are discussing occurs even if AC3Filter is selected for both MPEG1 and AC3 and has nothing whatsoever to do with choice of decoders.

This fix appears to have worked for me. I was watching "Wayne's World 2" last night and didn't appear to have any issues. Thanks everyone for the help and information.

All of my recordings are compressed into mp4 overnight but the audio is just copied (ffmpeg -acodec copy). I have audio dropout problems as well. Would disabling mpeg1 help my problem and where exactly is the setting to disable it?

Completely unrelated. No settings in NPVR that I can think of would affect this.
