BTW, I don't recall ever applying a 'DVBfix' (but I might have if it was several years ago and I've forgotten)... Is there a page or sticky somewhere on DVBfix and what it does?
You don't need DVBfix if you are using XP with only one tuner. If you have two tuners the system crashes when second tuner starts. DVBfix patch was released by MS to cure the problem but they overwrote it in the later service pack and never bothered to add it again. For some people including me with the patch installed there would be only a partial channel scan stopping after doing the first mux only. It was available to download from the Media Portal web site.

It depends on where you are with Windows updates and service packs - I'm on SP3 - I need it installed to record on more than one tuner at the same time and I need to uninstall it (temporarily) to do a scan.
If you can use both tuners at the same time then don't worry about it - I only raised it a possible issue since you said that it had been a long time since your last scan in which case you might have forgotten all about it... I regularly do when I need to do a rescan
