I just discovered some recordings on my hard drive which do not show up in my list of recordings in NextPVR. I am not sure if they are shows that never were watched or shows that for some reason did not get deleted. I also am not sure how many more of these shows there are which do not show up. There is a utility that allows you to manually add a show to the database, but since I probably have a couple hundred shows, I was wondering if there is a utility that would search the recording folder and add them to the database if they are not there. With enough time I could problem come of with a bat file to do this but was hoping somebody had already done this.
The other question is, has anybody had the problem of not having shows in the database.

If it was only a small number of recordings, you can just use the 'Import Recordings' button in the Settings screen, and point it as the .ts file.

For a large number of files, you can look at this utility http://www.nextpvr.com/nwiki/pmwiki.php?....VidImport

I'm not aware of anyone reporting this happening. The only scenario I'm aware of that can cause this is if you rename your recording directory. ie, files are still on disk, but when NextPVR loads the recording list it can't find the files in the location it things they are, so it deletes the entires from the database (on the assumption you've manually deleted the files on disk).

I used to have it happen if I deleted a recording before Comskip was finished analyzing it. Windows couldn't delete the file because Comskip had it locked. But some far, smoky corner of my brain thinks that perhaps sub came up with a way to deal with that. But I could be wrong. Wink

There have been fixes to various issues that commonly caused recording files to be left behind on the drive after they'd been removed from the database. The one HarryH3 sites was fixed in 1.6.2 or 2.0.3. Before then I routinely had my drive fill up with abandoned recording files, had to go through once a month hunting them down. These days it almost never happens, but I do still occasionally find some always way too long after the fact to investigate what might have happened.

attached is the very old utility I use sometimes to recover recordings. It was written for GB-PVR, but still works. I usually just run it from the top level of my recording directory; it builds an .xml file with all recordings, but NextPVR only imports the ones that don't already exist in the database.

I would give credit to the author, but I've long forgotten who posted it originally.
