Revert to icons only in recordings after 357 update?

I used to (for quite a few years now) have an amended layout which meant I only had icons in recordings menu (my preference), rather than Channel No Icon and name, which takes a lot of screen real estate.

Is there a setting for that or do I need to manually amend a file?

You'd probably manually updated a skin file. These are not files that are 'upgraded', since it'll have no idea what any manual edits you've done do. These files are always just overwritten with the master set during the upgrade.

If you've got any manual edits you're responsible for reapplying them.

After a bit of digging I found the old modded file, Guide.xml

Plus this snippet, from a along time ago ..

As long as you keep the fixedAspectRatio="true" statement in the Guide.xml skin file, the logos shouldn't be stretched.

I did a quick bodge of my default guide a while ago - in the Guide.xml file just after the Element name="Channels" part I just commented out the number and channel name lines (ie put a <!-- at the start of the line and [B]-->[/B at the end) and changed the icon line to:
