I don't think this is actually a NextPVR issue, but I'm wondering if any of the experts here can point me in the right direction. I've noticed that the FX and FXX channels are missing from my channel list when I scan my HDHome Run. I see the channels missing from both NextPVR and the HDHomerun Config tool. Notice how 553 is missing in this screenshot, but the channels right before and after it are fine. According to Verizon, I should get this channel.

As far as I know, I had FX working with WMC and Ceton Infinitv4 just a month ago before I switched to NPVR. It wasn't a copy protected channel.

Any advice?

Thanks
Charlie

They're likely to be copy-once / copy-never protected channels, so not accessible from NextPVR.

In your browser, try opening [b]http://<ipaddress>/lineup.xml?show=unprotected[b], where ipaddress is the ip address of your HDHomeRun. This will show you the list of unprotected channels. ie, the channels that NextPVR can offer.

I actually just checked this SD support link and see I failed the first troubleshooting step...

http://www.silicondust.com/support/instr...-in-a-scan

"Go to the web page for your HDHomeRun device (click on one of the tuner numbers on the Tuners tab in HDHomeRun Setup), then click on CableCARD Menu. Make sure that CableCARD Validation shows success. If it shows none, contact your cable provider, as the card must be validated in order for copy-protected channels to be received."

Mine has Card Validation = None

When I cut over from my old Ceton tuner, I just popped out the cable card and put it into my HD Home Run. It seemed to work ok, so I didn't do anything else. I'm guessing I need to get this correctly validated in order to get everything.

Is this a moot point though since NPVR can't access copy protected channels?

I have no idea whether you need to do that or not. Given you're getting all your other channels, I'm guessing it's only required for access to protected channels, so wont help you in this case.

FX HD
Fox Sports 1 HD
BTN HD
Fox Business Ne
Fox News HD
National Geo HD
Nat Geo Wild HD
FXX HD

I've read elsewhere that FOX "demanded" that Verizon FIOS make the change to Copy-Once for all of FOX's channels.

Wow, that's annoying. Any word if Comcast has the same restrictions? I just watch a handful on cable channels, but FX is one of them. I'd hate to have to resurrect WMC just for FX. I'd probably switch if they don't have that restriction.

Another annoying detail... I just tried to activate my old cable card with my HDHR and now it only can detect the very basic channels. I called Verizon and they said they think the card isn't working correctly and they need to send me a new one. Something tells me they just don't know what they are doing, but a new card is being mailed out none the less

About a month ago, Verizon has decided to enable the copy-never on all Fox cable channels. Check it out on DSLReports . I am in the same boat when it comes to Fox. Channel 553 among others.
You will need to use WMC for those.
