@ACTCMS: a quality 8-way splitter inserts ~10.5 to 11 db of signal loss, inferior grade splitters even more. depending an the type of cable and cable length, you could be experiencing much more signal loss than you think. In such cases I would recommend, in addition to your new antenna, a low noise signal amplifier inserted before the splitter.

I used an 8-way zero-gain splitter in my last house and it worked awesome. It only amplifies the signal on each output to the level of the incoming signal, rather than raising the signal level to an even higher level. Some amplified splitters add so much gain that some tuners have trouble with the signal being too hot. Mine was similar to this: http://www.amazon.com/PCT-Bi-Directional...B003UH9R2C

There's also a non-amplified port for a cable modem. This is to make sure that VoIP will work even if power to the amplified splitter is out.

Thanks for that - this is the device I'm using.

I may be getting some signal loss, but it's not obvious in use...

Maybe I will have to consider an amplifier in the loft and/or look at the aerial position. It is a new build house, and the aerial was fitted by the builders- if they took the same care as they did with most other things, it could be pointing is a completely wrong direction....

Why are you still having problems?
