Good evening,

I have Comcast as my cable provider and setting up NextPVR to replace Windows Media Center.

OS: Windows 7 Ultimate
CPU: AMD A10-7850k
RAM: 16 GB
HD: Intel 160 SSD, WD 2 TB drive
Tuner: Ceton InfiniTV 6 PCIe resides in the same PC where NextPVR is being run.

When I use Kodi as a frontend all channels work properly (no copy protected channels), using NextPVR as the frontend, I get sound but no video on channels using H.264 (same channel in Kodi work just fine).

I used the patch listed in here: http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...nels/page2

Issue not resolved.

Attached are my log files.

Thank you for your assistance.

I don't think we've encountered any Ceton users with H.264 channels up until now, so might need a couple of minor tweaks to get it working.

BTW, approximately how many of your channels are H.264?

I'm using Comcast "Digital Starter" - this gives me 226 usable channels in Media Center, 225 usable in Kodi using XNEWA (one "copy once" 0x02 channel), 175 usable in Kodi using NextPVR PVR Client (901-950 are music channels and buffer badly, and one "copy once" 0x02 channel) and 172 usable in NextPVR (53 have no video and one "copy once" 0x02 channel)

I've included the list of channels and the Ceton InfiniTV channel pairing.

It's unfortunate timing in the release cycle, since I can't really give you a patch for this type of change right now. You can get NextPVR to work with these channels, but it will require you to manually do a few steps.

What you need to edit a some data in the npvr.db3 database file. There is several different tools you could use for this, like "sqlite analyzer". Basically you need to edit the CHANNEL_MAPPING table to set the "servce_type" field to '25' for these H.264 channels. Currently your database will have them all set to 1. After that you should be good to go.

I'm not sure what your level of expertise is, and if that is enough info for you. Let us know if you need more detailed information.

I was able to edit the npvr.db3 database and made the modifications. The problem channels are now working, but a little slow to change.

Stop the NPVR service,

I used "DB Browser for SQLite" to query and change the database. Opening the npvr.db3 database, click on "Browse Data" and select the table "CHANNEL_MAPPING" in the dropdown.
You then see the field headings:
channel_oid, capture_source_oid, channel_source_number, tuning, enabled, service_type

Using the list of channels I have issues with, I filtered on "channel_source_number" the channels in question.

I have six tuners (Ceton InfiniTV 6), each tuner will have an entry for the channel that needs to be changed.

As directed, changing the default value of "service_type" from "1" to "25" and saving the changes.

Restarted the NPVR service, opened NPVR and tested the problem channels, slow to change, but is working.

Thank you!

Great - glad you got it working.

We've had a few people say they found the Ceton channel changes slow (though they were talking MPEG2). I'm not really sure why this might be. Unfortunately I don't really know much about these devices. ie, I don't have one here, and there is no way to user one if I did.

Approximately how long are these channel changes taking? If you can zip and attach the logs, I'll see if any reason stands out.

What decoder are you using? I'd go with the Microsoft DTV-DVD Video Decoder.

I'm using Cyberlink Video Decoder (PDVD12).
From the guide, selecting a channel, it is taking 5-6 seconds.
From LiveTV, it takes about half as long, 2-3 second
