Hello,

I have a Hauppauge HDPVR 1 and I'm trying to get it to work with NextPVR with little success. First off, I'm using the latest HDPVR driver from Hauppage's website, 1_7_30059 and windows detects the device and doesn't report any issues with it. NextPVR detects the HDPVR and I can manually add in a channel using the Component Video input and Rear RCA for the audio, however when I try to select Live TV I get no video or audio and NextPVR is using 100% CPU. When LiveTV is active, I do see the lights on my HDPVR light up as if it's recording something, so it appears like it's working.

Also, no timeshifting file seems to be created when I start live tv. I've tried changing the recording/timeshifting directory to different ones in case of a permissions issue, but it doesn't make a difference. I even tried running NextPVR as an administrator with the same results.

I opened up the Debug info while Live TV is 'running' and I'm seeing the counters go up, eventhough I'm not seeing and hearing anything. I've tried every renderer and decoder I have installed (I also have the CoreAVC H.264 decoder, which may not be seen in the attached logs). I can press the stop button on my media remote and the stream will stop and return to the main menu, so NextPVR isn't completely unresponsive.

I've also tried adding it as an analog device with no luck either.

I'm using this capture device is to mirror my cable box's video output on a Kodi instance I have in another room, so I don't need to set up the IR blaster for channel changes, nor do I need any EPG set up for it.

Is there something that I'm missing? I'd like to use NextPVR because of its integration with Kodi so any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Is your video card capable of hw h264? If so use the EVR Renderer, Default for Audion Render, LAV for AAC Audio and MS DTV_DVD for h264 and upload your logs. If your video card isn't great you probably will have problems.

Also have you confirmed the RCA out from your STB is sending parallel audio? Maybe it isn't mirrored when you have HDMI audio out enabled.

Hi Martin,

Thanks a lot for your suggestions.

Yes, I have an AMD Radeon HD 6450 and it is capable of HW h.264. I downloaded and installed the LAV decoders and have also attached my logs mirroring the configuration you mentioned. The same issue is occurring.

I have can confirmed that the RCA out from my STB is sending parallel audio. I actually installed the Hauppauge Capture tool today and it works just fine. It was able to detect and play the 1080i signal coming from my STB with sound as well. So that confirms that HDPVR works on my PC.

In the logs, you'll probably also see a couple of HDHomeRun Dual tuners in there. I tried setting those up as well, just to see if NextPVR itself is having problems on my PC and while I was able to scan for channels successfully, I couldn't watch any channels as NextPVR would indicate that it couldn't find an available tuner. I was able to confirm that no other device was using those tuners since the lights were off on the HDHomerun. By the way, I'm running Windows 7 if I didn't mention that already.

It looks like this issue may be bigger than just the HDPVR not working. Sad

Well, I ended up reinstalling NextPVR and now the HDPVR is working with video and audio with low CPU usage. I even got the Kodi PVR addon working right away as well.

It's odd that I had this issue in the first place. I really appreciate the time you spent to help me out, Martin.
