I'm pretty sure this has already been suggested but what the hey... maybe this release.
The current Record Immediate function uses the Ctl-k keystroke to immediately begin recording the show being viewed. Recording stops at the end of the show.
I wish for another recording function: A new keystroke that will immediately begin recording the show being viewed but DOES NOT stop recording until the user cancels it using the Recordings->Pending screen. Yes, this will tie up the tuner indefinitely but that's for the user to work out. Another risk, also a user responsibility, is that the destination folder may run out of space, at which time the recording is stopped. The Recordings->Pending entry created and the file being saved take on the name of the show the recording began with regardless of how many shows are after it. Scheduled shows coming into conflict with such a recording are simply not done and marked "tuner unavailable" or something like that. If the show being viewed is already being recorded, do not stop recording when it ends.
FWIW and tryin' to keep it fresh. I hope this sounds reasonable. It would prevent a lot "overtime" shows, mostly live content, from being segmented into several files. Also, many times, live shows will force subsequent shows to shift to a later time and "cross over" the nice neat schedule boundaries again resulting in segmented playback or the last 20 minutes not being recorded at all.
Thanks for listening.
