The last couple of times I've had back to back recordings on the same channel using SiliconDust HDHomeRunPrime (no cable card, just straight QAM), the second recording fails and I end up with a 0 byte file. I'm including the NRecord and Ndigitalhost logs for the show in question (Bull, and NCIS was being recorded right before that on the same channel). This also happened to me with two back to back episodes of BrainDead (no logs for that).

Is there some way to turn off the feature that uses the same tuner in instances like that? I'd just like to see if that helps.

P.S. This worked fine last TV season.

What is your HDHR BDA compatibility mode. It should not be NextPVR

Oddly, it was on NextPVR, but that's not what I remember setting it to. I haven't changed anything between last May and now, so I'm not sure what happened. Anyway, I changed it to DEFAULT. Should it be set to one of the other PVRs in the list?

Default should be fine. If it's set to 'NextPVR' then it tries to do PID mapping, so that a minimal amount of data is sent across the network - with other settings like 'Default' or 'Mediaportal', it doesn't try to do PID mapping, and instead sends everything over the network.

OK, I got slightly better results with the BDA mode set to DEFAULT. The second recording this time was 4.8mb. Unfortunately that meant about a 10 second recording, which is well short of the 1 hour I expected. '-)

Attached are logs again. Apologies, but I included the entire log directory this time, as I can't seem to always find information around the time of the recordings to be sure what to include. The first recording was The Bold and the Beautiful (starting at 11:30am HST). The second (unsuccessful) recording was Let's Make a Deal (starting at noon HST). Both had a one minute pre and post pad. And just to be clear, those were test recordings. '-) Tomorrow I'm going to try back to backs on a channel other than CBS to see if that matters.

edit: I'm currently recording two shows back to back on NBC. We're 15 minutes into the second show, and the file is about 900mb. So it looks like the recording is working. This might just be a problem with CBS. I may try deleting the channel and rescanning tomorrow to see what happens.

I think I got it working again, or rather I have successfully recorded back to back shows on CBS once. '-) I'll know for absolutely sure next week.

I removed the channel and rescanned. Then I had to patch NPVR because the scan was returning nothing. So while I was at it I just ran the current NPVR installer. Got the channel re-added, and it seems to work again. The only other change I made to the BDA driver was on the ADVANCED tab in the HDHomeRun Setup. I changed the Virtual Channel Table mode from AUTO to NORMAL. I feel like if that was the problem I would have been having issues with more than one channel, but since I violated the golden rule of troubleshooting (change only one thing at a time), I guess we'll never know. '-)

P.S What genius at SiliconDust decided to have two apps, one called HDHomeRun Config and another HDHomeRun Setup? I lost count of the number of times I opened the wrong app while checking something.

Well there are also the HDHomeRun View and the HDHomeRun. The first is the Windows program and the second is the Win10 app. And don't get me started on the green icon app vs the gray icon app.
