Hi. I recently configured an xmltv epg updater using zap2it. Works great but some epg entries show a * right after the program name. I have not been able to find any explanation of what this could mean? Could anyone share the meaning or suggest a page in the manual that might have the answer or link?

Many thanks.

I think it does that one new shows.

It's not needed though, since NextPVR has it's own 'new' indicator. If fact, having this asterisk there can cause problems with getting artwork etc.

your grabber is doing that. as sub points out, you're probably better off disabling that. as to how, you'd have to consult the instructions for whatever grabber you're using; it's nothing to do with NextPVR.

Thanks. Now that you mention it the grabber recommended a "new " command in the batch file. I will take it out and try it. Did not know that was the result.

I also seem to have learned that just because its a xmltv version of whats supposed to be on zap2it its not necessarily current even if you update it. For example the DVB/ATSC is showoing Cubs/Indians on FOX, the zap2it web site is showing Cubs baseball on FOX but for some reason the XMLTV result of zap2it is showing Brooklyn Nine-Nine at 8pm instead of Cubs baseball. Go figure. No amount of updating the zap2xml brings the baseball on the EPG even thought its showing on the zap2it listing page.

sounds like some issue with the way you're updating the file, or you're not loading the right file into NextPVR. if you want someone to take a look at it, update the EPG and then post the logs along with the xmltv file.

or I should just say "use schedulesdirect"... no problems there.

I delete the cache folder that zap2xml creates before updating it.
Then in NPVR settings, channels, Empty EPG, then Update EPG.
Now my guide shows the World Series Game 7.

Thanks. That process made it work correctly. Does one always need to delete the cache folder or just when it is not working properly?

I don't think it updates changes on days that are already in the cache so I always delete the cache folder before updating.

If I get 10 days of guide, then it would be 10 days old by the time I use it. There is a no cache option but I have not tried it. I just delete the cache folder every time I update.
