NMT's started stuttering

I built a new machine recently and things have been working well, until now all of a sudden both my A100 and A110 have started stuttering. Audio will drop mostly, but video will stutter also. Skipping forward or back fixes it sometimes. They will work fine for a while then start stuttering again. All files run fine on the pc, so I'm pretty sure it's a network issue, but I don't know why it would start suddenly, I haven't changed anything there, and I don't really know how to troubleshoot.

Any suggestions?

Just some thoughts: Is the network hard wired? Any wifi or powerline Ethernet in the links between the server and the NMT's? Video streaming requires a very steady delivery of data. That stream can get interrupted by other devices when you don't have Cat cable all the way.

It's all hard wired with cat5.

I once had a machine that would drop from 1,000 Mbps to 100 Mbps due to a dodgy network cable.

Seriously, it seems to me the most likely culprit is something in the network interface of the server, e.g. Windows update, motherboard network "card" driver, chipset drivers, etc. Google on your motherboard for network issues. Then again, maybe your router is dying?

Do you have any 720p recordings and if so how well do they play? The NMT needs really steady bandwidth to play 1080i with the software demux.

Another good test would be playing the files directly in the NMT from a share.
