NPVR records but won't schedule season requests and two shows stopped recording early

I was having the same issue of not being able to schedule series recordings. I was able to resolve by opening Settings, Recordings and unchecking boxes next to Avoid duplicate recordings where possible and Look for alternative airings on unresolved conflict. I changed the settings back afterwards and no longer an issue.

Also, after resolution, I opened Recordings from the main menu, scrolled to Recurring Recordings and opened all instances for the series I was having problem with (there were many after I had tried so many times). This may be why my attempts to create a new series recording schedule failed. Double-clicking each instance offers an option to disable, which by the way is a lot easier than finding each instance in the TV Guide if you want to cancel the series temporarily (if you click cancel instead of disable, it removes that recurring instance permanently). Before having trouble scheduling a series, I had individually cancelled all the instances for the same series when I didn't want to record same. I'm guessing if you cancel individual instances in the TV Guide but there is still a recurring listing for the same series enabled, when your TV Guide updates with future dates that apply, the recordings will be scheduled for the new dates.
