Using new NPVR TS reader and PDVD13 codec, aspect ratio is no longer auto adjusted.
If I find the mouse and click on Aspect Ratio / Auto it will set to the correct ratio for the program being broadcast, but if you skip to a point with different aspect ratio (adverts or later program on same channel) or change channel to a channel with a different aspect ratio, it will not automatically change. Requiring more mouse work.
On previous versions of NPVR the only time aspect ratio was wrong was when a channel broadcast the wrong flag.

Any chance you could record a bit that shows an aspect ratio change, and cut it down with cutchunk, and supply? Anywhere up to a few hundred MB is fine.

Our channels are full time 16:9, so hard to test this here without a sample file.

Had a feeling that was the case

Here are a couple of samples cut using raw cutting in Videoredo 5

Both of these have about a minute of 4:3 till the advert where they change to 16:9 for a minute - First is an MPEG2 channel, Second is a DVBT2 SD channel

When you cut the video files with VideoRedo it broke the files, in that they were no-longer 188 byte aligned, and the new reader didn't like these...so as a first step, I had to add support for non-aligned files. This was worth doing, because occasionally we encounter files like this.

I then looked into the aspect ratio issue, and have resolved. This update should be more accurate with the aspect ratio than the old reader, which used to guess at the aspect ratio of H.264 streams - now it's reading this info out of the correct headers. Please try the attached and let me know.

I'm surprised that VideoRedo broke them - It was just the File cut feature I used not the editor - I wouldn't be surprised that they are all like this in the UK with up to 15 channels per Mux now.

I have run the latest installer from earlier today and in limited testing before coming in to work, aspect ratio appears to be working fine, on MPEG2 and H264, but haven't had a chance to watch through adverts yet to see if it auto adjusts then.

Picture quality appears to be sharper and the HD channels now appear to be releasing back to the epg much faster - always have stuck on some of the channels until several presses on the remote sent you back to the Main Menu.

Every .ts file should start with the character 0x47 (G), and every 188 bytes should be another 0x47 (G). Those files do not. One of yours had the 0x47 at the 33 byte, and then every 188 after that. I can't remember what offset the other file was at, but also did not start with 0x47. I can only assume it was VideoRedo that did this.

That figures - that feature is meant to cut at an exact point without modifying the file in any way, prior to editing, sometimes useful to remove garbage that is stopping a file from playing at all.
