Nextpvr Cant detect my Dish recivers video output

I have a tv tuner And when i try to do a channel search (My Dvr is outpitting on channel 60) It cant find anything. My dvr is a dish network vip722k dvr. i have my tuner hokked into where the outside jack for tv2 should go.

What type of TV tuner do you have it connected to?

Basically, your dish set top box will outputting analog, do when you're setting up device, it needs to show the type 'ANALOG' on the Settings->Devices screen. An ATSC/QAM only tuner digital wont see this type of signal.

It is a ASTC and Qam tuner. That must be my issue

Ideally you'd need one of the previous generation Hauppauge tuners that still did analog.

i went on eabay and got a diamond ati TV Wonder HD 750 for 20 bucks. its from 2009 but i dont care about video quality that much

When it comes to old-school analog, it officially only works out of the box with Hauppauge tuners, and only when you've got the Hauppauge WinTV software installed. That said, you can usually get it working with other tuners is if you follow the instructions from other user posts about manually installing the Hauppauge SoftPVR component. (this is why I said you ideally want one of the Hauppauge tuners)

note: I just tested this on Windows 10 v1709 and found that the SoftPVR script hangs at "Extracting WinTV installer". For some reason the WinTV installer extracts itself, but then never terminates. The work-around is to wait a few moments make sure the extraction is finished, then open the Task Manager and End Task on wintv7_cd_3.9g.exe or wintv8setup_35163.exe. Then the rest of the install will complete.

note 2: it makes no difference what version of WinTV you get for the purpose of analog TV encoding support; the actual files used for this haven't been updated in 10 years.
