epg guide for iptv

I have my satellite stuff set up, and decided to add some iptv stuff (m3u8 and xmltv guide), and it seems like, correct or not, when asked to updated the guide, it updates for satellite then updates for iptv, but after its finished the satellite guide update, it says its finished, even though according to the nextpvrserver window its still busy slaving away adding info to the iptv epg guide. Should it do that.

When you add some channels, and it offers to update the epg, saying yes will update all the guide for all channels. So adding IPTV channels, to a system that already has DVB-S channels, the update EPG will do both xmltv and DVB EPG.

I'm not sure I follow the comment about saying it's finished, and what happens after that.

I'll try to reproduce. What order did you add the channels? satellite then iptv?

I added the satellite channels, maybe a week ago, with more or less daily updates. I added iptv yesterday, and updated the guide again, whereupon, it updated the satellite channels, watched it scan 12456, 12483, whatever. When it finished it closed itself or more likely it said it finished and I closed it as usual.

Except after it that, I'm pretty sure, looking in this window

it was still getting the guide for the iptv stuff, in the background, after it had apparently finished.


So I assume it should have the updating channels window open showing it updating the satellite stuff and then the iptv stuff, and should then say its finished, but it actually said it was finished after the satellite update only then carried on with the iptv stuff in the background. I think.

The satellite EPG takes a long time, so it's pretty obvious it's happening. Depending how many IPTV channels you've got, this can be pretty damn quick - might have been a blinked an you missed it type thing. ie, It looks like you might be using Matt Huisman NZ IPTV links, and the EPG update from there can often just take a couple of seconds or less. If you saw the 'EPG Update Complete' message, then it probably completed.

Looks like you are correct. I sat and watched it update, and the IPTV update was indeed included at the end and only there for maybe two seconds.

Don't know what I saw in nextpvrserver window, a figment of my deranged imagine I presume (again).

After the scan the server windows will still get messages if the dialog is still open it says "Saving EPG listings" but primarily it is updating recurring recordings.
