Live TV worked OK on the PC I am using as my V5 test server. The problem started when I plugged the disk into my V4 server and copied over the V4 config and database. Live TV plays for several minutes then stops. There are errors in the logs relating to the Live TV buffer. Logs enclosed. Live TV starts 16:29:02 and stops at 16:34:16.

The only way to get the disk back working in the V5 test server is to delete and reinstall V5, copy the original test server database over and run NextPVRServer.exe to regenerate the original working test server.

I have tried creating other directories for the TV buffer and changing permissions!

Is this a windows problem or a UI Client problem?

Anyway is this your live tv folder C:\Users\Public\Temp and does it exist?

I had two Windows 10 NPVR server disks which had the problem after running in my V4 server and using the V4 config files. I have managed to get one back working after a clean install of NPVR with no Live TV buffer errors. On the faulty disk files get created in the buffer directory and deleted at the end of live TV. As I said I have tried alternative directories. I did wonder if it was a directory permissions problem,

Today I found that I can watch Live HD channels but all SD channels crash after several minutes! This happens when using 2 X RPi3 client running New Client, Celeron Nettop also New Client and also Nlite on my desktop PC.

I thought it was a permission problem on the Live TV Buffer but giving "Everyone" full access did not help.

I thought it may be a faulty SD tuner but it happens with all the all five different tuners I have.

Next plan is clean install of Windows and NextPVR V5 as it has worked for a couple of months until the last week or so!!

Post the logs and let me know the time of a crash, and I'll take a look.

This signal looks pretty poor to me

2019-06-27 16:29:09.556 [DEBUG][5] locked=1, present=1, strength=58, quality=66 (took 63ms to check)

If that is how it was with v4 maybe it is just the driver.

I have so far spent around 11 hours today looking at this problem!!! I would appreciate if you could take a look at the logs. An observation that the two boxes that crash when playing SD Live TV are both AMD powered and the one that works is an old Intel Core2 Duo!

Enclosed are two logs from Live TV playing on two different Windows servers:-

Log 16:37 is from my Intel box starting Live TV around 16:20 and stopped by me at 16:35. This box has been running V5 on Windows 10 for several months.

Log 17:22 is from my AMD powered PC. It is a clean install of Windows and NPVR V5 using the same tuner and no imported files. Live TV started at 17:11 and crashed at 17:18.

There are errors in both logs including "Schedules Direct" which I dont use.

My V4 server runs Windows 8 on AMD powered HP Microserver. I made duplicate of V4 boot disk, uninstalled V4 NPVR and installed V5. That plays Live HD to the client but SD crashes after about 7 minutes.

Might be worth checking CPU temp if you can - LAV filter doesn't bother with hardware decoding for SD anymore (possibly other decoders as well). And it has been warmer than usual (for the UK) the last few days. I had to replace an AMD CPU a few years ago due to internal thermal paste shrinkage. (Half a phenom of e-bay for next to nothing sorted several years of misery) Went from 70/130 to 23/39 degrees.
It's not an overly complicated system - it's more - overly simple operatives  Huh

A little progress but still cannot run V5 reliably on my HP microserver as live TV crashes after about 7 minutes most of the time! One of my RPi3 clients is outside the house and use it to watch live TV using the V4 server. It happens the same if the client is on GB ethernet, Wi-Fi or powerline networking!

I have 4 PCs setup as V5 servers on a clean Windows install and a range of different tuners and all combinations display the problem using NPVR New Client or Nlite to view live TV. Below are typical highlights from the nrecord log

14:41:09 start Live TV
14:41:13 “Failed to open rolling file” error and exception error .........
14:47:56 “Waiting for more data (pos: 212300000, len: 212303136, avail: 3136, need:50000”
Repeated about 20 times
14:48:07 reached end of rolling file. Dropping connection...(2) (available=3136 of=50000)

On a small number of tests there were no “Failed to open rolling file” error and exception error and playback does not stop.
On some tests with the “Failed to open rolling file” error and exception error" the setup seems to recover and the playback does not stop.

One of the PCs is my HP Microserver which for the tests runs a duplicate of the Windows 8 NPVR V4 disk which has been refreshed to a clean install and that behaves the same as the Windows 10 PCs!!!!!!!
