NextPVR's EPG Mappings keep reverting to the Automatic Mappings

After setting up the Schedules Direct lineups for my Xfinity cable and local over-the-air channels, the mappings keep reverting to the wildly inaccurate ones done automatically by NextPVR rather than using my own settings.

Whether I use the Bulk Map or alter each channel individually in their Details window, they just keep reverting to the blasted AutoMap which I absolutely hate.

This wouldn't be a problem if automap would just match by numbers instead of names. Why doesn't it do that? I want channel 6 to be matched to channel 6, not channel 550!!!

Anyway, how do I stop it from reverting. Is there something in the settings I can change to disable automapping entirely?

NextPVR might not be telling you the truth ... Change some of the mappings and then click OK all the way out of Settings (I usually also stop and start NextPVR ... just in case) ... You might find that your changes have stuck. It might be that NextPVR gets in a pickle and continues to display the old values but saves the new values correctly in the database.

If that ain't it ... recreate the problem and post the logs telling us the time that you made the changes so that we know where to look in the logs. The logs might show a "database locked" message or somesuch.

How long do I have to wait? I just now closed down NextPVR.exe and opened it again. When I go to Channel 6 in the Details window, it does show the correct mapping, but when I open the Bulk Map, it will show that it still seemingly mapped to channel 550, so I don't understand what's going on.

If it's just the case of NextPVR refreshing its settings to match the database, then is there a way I can force it to refresh?

I need to know what's actually in the database and it would be nice if the UI could more immediately reflect that.

I suspect that Bulk Map is designed to automap. It might be that NexPVR expects that you would stay in the Channels dialog to change individual channels. You should be able to right click on a channel and then select Details from the menu that pops-up.

NextPVR does change my naming to ugly schedules direct naming when I automap. Remember that V5 is still beta so improvements are still coming.

Well, I'm using v4.2.4. I'm very apprehensive about using v5 right now because apparently it isn't as stable as v4. That's why I posted the thread here.

Also, it's good to know that I'm not the only one who had the problem of the AutoMapping also wiping out the original station call signs and replacing them with the names from the INCORRECT matches. That infuriates me as well, especially since I specifically clicked NO on the popup asking me if I wanted it to do that.

At this point, I have to ask: Is there an XML file somewhere I could edit to do the mapping manually? At this point it would be better and probably faster than dealing with the interface.

And I really want to use Schedules Direct directly within NextPVR too. Not only am I getting more information about show listings that way as opposed to reading an XMLTV file (I can actually see the season and episode numbers and guide grid will tell me if it's a premiere or finale! Big Grin ), but also XML escaped characters, including ampersands and apostrophes, are no longer being randomly dropped from show titles and descriptions, like they were with mc2xml. If I could just get the channel mapping to straighten up and fly right I'd be good.

Sorry I thought you were talking about a V5 issue. I doubt very much sub is going to waste much time looking at v4 issues in core functionality at this point.

I recall recently (within the last month) that someone else had a problem with some bug with the bulkmap in v4. I also have a sort of vague recollection of there possibly being a patch for a bulkmap problem which might not have been included in the 4.2.4 install package. So you might try doing a little searching to see if you find one.

I definitely wouldn't try to use an XML file for the guide data. That would just cause more problems.

I pretty sure that if you just manually select the proper guide data for the channels, it will "stick." As you said, when you open the details for a channel after doing that, it is showing the correct mapping. That pulls the data directly from the database. And don't try to use the bulk map feature after you've manually set things because that might undo your settings. (I seem the recall the bug having something to do with it automatically making changes to the wrong thing even if you didn't ask it to. But I could be totally off there.)
