I'm not exactly sure where or even how to ask this...
I use NPVR, XMLTV and MC2XML with a HDHomerun device. I live between Chicago, IL and South Bend, IN. I can receive OTA TV broadcasts from both. Most of the channels I use are Chicago stations, but there is one channel I want to use out of South Bend. The problem is that both Chicago and South Bend stations use channel 22.1 and the XMLTV EPG data reverts to the Chicago station, which is actually a low power local station that I can't receive. I am receiving the South Bend 22.1 channel but the EPG gives listings for the local Chicago station instead of the South Bend station.

All I need to do is have the EPG grab the TV listings for the South Bend station, but I have no idea how to do that. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Where does MC2XML get its EPG data from?

NextPVR allows you to use multiple xmltv files. For example, I can specify that Channel ABCD gets its EPG data from XMLTV-1.xml and that Channel WXYZ gets its EPG data from a different file XMLTV-2.xml.

Can you use mc2xml to create two XMLTV files?

NextPVR doesn't use the channel numbers, such as 22.1, to identify channels. You can change these channel numbers in NextPVR Settings --> Channels if you wish.

MC2XML gets EPG data from Microsoft (I have the donators version 1.5), but there appears to be a problem with the installation. When I run MC2XML I'll get the initial popup dialog where I can input my zip code but when I push OK in the command line I get "Error...TCP 124391R" At that point MC2XML closes. That error apparently means "server disconnected during connection, usually due to a broken MS server - might work upon retry". I have sent a message to MC2XML to try and figure that one out.

I didn't realize that NPVR can use different XMLTV.xml files for different channels. Once I get MC2XML sorted I'll figure out how to do that.

You should also consider using Schedules Direct. There is built-in support for SD right in NPVR. And it will give you better results. You can get a free trial and test it out.

You can have up to 4 different lineups in SD. (Generally they are used for different devices--for instance I have an OTA lineup for my ATSC HDHR and a cable lineup for my cablecard Primes.) Your case is a little different, so won't be quite as straight forward to setup, but still easier than using XML files. When initially setting up a device, NPVR is going to ask you to select an SD lineup. Pick the one for the majority of your channels (Chicago in your case) and do all of the normal setup. Then go back to the Settings | Channels and find the one(s) that should be from the South Bend lineup. Click the configuration wrench and you can adjust the EPG details (specifically the SD lineup and mapping) to point to the correct data for that channel. After making all of the changes, I'd suggest doing an Empty EPG and then an Update EPG to make sure all of the data in the guides is coming from the correct sources.

Thanks for this, I may move to SD. But I'm cheap and if I can get things working fine with MC2XML I'll stick with it. But $25 may be worth it just to avoid this kind of hassle.

I just signed up for the trial of Schedules Direct and when I try to set it up on NPVR I get a message "Unable to communicate with Schedules Direct. Please try again later." Am I doing something wrong or is this a SD issue?

Are you sure you got your username/password entered correctly? If so, zip and attach the logs and I'll have a quick look.

I don't even get to the point where I can enter my credentials. EDIT: I just tried it again and it works now. Must have been an SD thing.

Great - yeah, they might have been down at the time. It doesn't happen very often, but does very occasionally.
