IPTV Channel Looping/Playback Issues

I don't think it's to do with the show boundaries. I think it comes down to the IPTV restarting things, or the connection going down and next time we're asking for a stream we're being sent to a different server in the pool (which will have different timestamps since they're not synchronized).

You may find things work better with m3u8 streams instead of ts streams...or at least different, and possibly better results, so worth a try. With m3u8 they tend to only use a single encoder server, with CDN for distributing files, and if a connection goes down briefly, there is at least a decent chance of resuming exactly where it was up to.

The big file and it is really damaged at the point I was talking about, the pts changes a few time and then it starts into the new show truncating the end of old show that is why I thought it might be how the server responds to new show requests.

The small file is missing huge blocks of data at various times so not recoverable.

As for remuxing there are utilities that copy the data to fix the broken timelines so that skipping and playing is better on files like the big one.  I use ts4np but running ffmpeg -c copy  does about the same thing.  It will not recover the missing data at the end of the show.

You get what you pay for I guess.

Thanks, Martin. The conversion to mp4 did work OK, and the file now plays fine, although as you said, the part that is missing near the end obviously is still not there.

With regard to Sub's suggestion about using m3u8 streams - is that something I can switch to just by changing file names? Or do I have to find another IPTV provider that specifically offers m3u8 streams?

It really depends on the IPTV provider. It could just be a matter of changing the m3u url to include "&type=m3u_plus&output=hls" or "&type=m3u_plus&output=m3u8".

A lot of stuff changing at the moment with IPTV providers, given the events of a couple of weeks ago, so it'll probably vary depending on what new IPTV software they switched to.
