Fire TV Stick 4K No Playback

I know the app isn't designed for this yet but others seem to have it working so I figured would try it out.  Got the app loaded onto the fire stick.  Can connect and everything seems fine.  Guide loads, recordings load and channels load.  Try to play recording or live tv and just get black screen.  Have tried both direct play and transcode but get same black screen.

Same thing also happens with kodi app.  It connects, everything looks fine but then nothing when I try to play something.

Logs were cleared out so only thing is me trying to play live tv from android app via direct play then another try with transcode.

Any ideas?

Since you are using QAM before trying remote clients I'd make sure that you have clear QAM using the NextPVR client. If so I would be happy to help you out the Kodi question with the Kodi debug log.

I'm going to factory reset and try again. Fire interface has become painfully slow. Will come back to thread with update after reset.

I don't recommend hacking FTV to load the Playstore to load the Android app anyway.

After reset, nextpvr app is working. I messed around with bunch of stuff before figuring out how to correctly sideload so must have screwed something up.

Don't really plan on using this till sub updates the app for possibly FTV/Android TV (I know it might not happen and fine with that). Was really just a proof of concept to see if the direct play feature of the app works on the cheapest device I could find and it does.

If you are going to test Kodi I suggest the fritschfiretv build http://mirrors.kodi.tv/test-builds/android/arm/ since it corrects some terrrible lip sync issues.

Your post also reminds me that I posted a link to my Android app that tests direct play with ExoPlayer and NextPVR. I have to see how that works with v5
