Edge Beta v5 as app

The Edge Beta browser has a feature that makes a Windows 10 app out of a web page. So, I tried it out on NextPVR v5 and it's pretty cool. Go to settings (3 dots upper right) of the browser, select 'Apps', then 'Install this site as app'. Then you have an NPVR icon on your desktop and in the start menu.

It seems to work fine but when you watch a recording or live TV and go full screen there is a info bar or something on the top. This only happens with the created app. With the Edge Beta browser the video goes full screen normally.

I have used this feature with other web sites like Youtube and full screen works as it should when watching a video.

You mean that line saying "Not secure"? It's probably just a decision they decided to make for web pages being served off http rather than https. There isn't really anything I can do about this (ie, I can't supply trusted certs as part of the installer - they don't work like that). The user can setup there own web server with https, and proxy pass to to the NextPVR server if they wish, which would probably get rid of it.

Yes, that's probably it.
Maybe I'll look into making the npvr server https.

If you install nginx on your linux box, it is quite simple, and this easily could be the only 443 port server on your box, so you won't even have to use the port anymore. Some browsers and antivirus problem will give you hassles on self-signed certificates.

They use nginx in a docker container but maybe I just need to install nginx and configure it.

I just installed nginix when I was testing https and nextpvr. Having it in docker means having one more "pc" to update with new versions.

Well, I finally got nginx configured so I can type in https://192.168.x.x and open nextpvr but the self-signed certificatle I generated using openssl was not good enough. Even installed the certificate with "manage certificates" but still the browser says "Not secure" Sad

Guess I'll accept defeat on this one.
