Running the Firefox web browser in a window (on Windows 10) ...

Settings --> General ... Text boxes for  Directory names are long when the window is narrow but shorten when I drag the right edge to make the windows wider (plus do most folk call them Folders now?)

Settings --> Access ... Ditto

Settings --> General ... The text "Pre-Padding" and "Post-Padding" switch from one line to two and vice versa independently depending on window width

Correct. That is the way it is supposed to behave.

This is what they call a 'responsive web app', where it tries to adjust the sizes of fields to best suit the size of the browser window, to make it a sensible layout. Ultimately people usually don't usually sit there an resize their web browser, so often don't see how it changes as it goes through the different sizes. On particularly small window sizes (like some mobile phones etc), it sometimes moves fields onto multiple rows, where it wouldn't make sense to try squeezing these onto the same row.

It's challenging to make web apps that look good at every size, but you want all the fields to be usable.

While looking at your post, and trying it on Settings->General, I noticed the 'Channel Groups' was not resizing, and on a small window, the field was too small, and selected group could not be read. I've fixed this for the next release, so that it also resizes.
