Hi,

I have posted this on the Kodi and Libreelec forums as I think this is a Kodi/Addon bug rather than a NextPVR issue but unfortunately I have had no luck getting a solution there.

When I stop Live TV or Recordings occasionally Kodi will completely freeze up and become unresponsive requiring a reboot. I have tried a few different ways of stopping playback such as pressing stop or pausing, going back to the guide page and then pressing stop but all have the same outcome with Kodi locking up.

I am running Kodi 18.5 on Libreelec 9.2 on a RPi4 but have had this problem on previous versions with a RPi3 also. I am using the latest version of the NextPVR addon that is available for Libreelec and have tried different options with regards to timeshift with no luck.

I have attached the NextPVR log below and have the Kodi log available although it is quite large.

Any help/suggestions would be appreciated.

Sorry I am not going to waste anymore of my time on this since I already looked at the Kodi logs and NextPVR logs and nothing looks to be related to NextPVR the addon or Kodi, the system stops responding to keystrokes.

The only thing that might be an issue for arbitrary unresponsiveness is if you have incorrectly configured Kodi to cache the the database

I offer my help at no charge and spent several hours looking at the issue you created on github https://github.com/kodi-pvr/pvr.nextpvr/issues/109 and could not find a link to a problem with the addon or NextPVR. As you use LE I could not direct you to Kodi as LE is a separate application.

I did provide the link to where I felt that LE should continue their analysis. From my standpoint this means the addon is not in memory or running at the time of the freeze.

I also took the effot to find and follow your thread on the LE forum https://forum.libreelec.tv/thread/20795-...post136259 I am not sure why you were offended by my post as I would be happy to follow up on any new information they offered. The fact that LE devs aren't interested should in no way impact your support for sub. It would be a sign of insanity for me to continue to analyze.

I understand your frustration as I often encounter lack of responses from the Kodi dev team but I certainly don't punish think it is right to punish sub for something not in his control.

@sub, could you please close the issue on github, I was waiting for the LE team to respond but now it doesn't seem necessary.

I appreciate that you offer your time for free, however making statements like "not going to waste anymore time" is not a nice way to speak to someone. I have made a number of posts here and you are always quick to criticise any mistake made or issue with data provided, usually in a manner that is pretty dismissive. The comment on this topic was the final straw for me today, you could have made your point similar to your follow up post that would have answered my query and left things open for other people to comment.

I understand that there are a lot of posts made here and that it must be frustrating at times for you. If my perception of your attitude is incorrect I apologise. I will maintain my donations to the project, it was not correct of me to have said that.

In relation to this particular issue, I do not think I would be the only person running NextPVR and Libreelec together, it would be nice if other people who might be experiencing this problem could comment, or if they are not experiencing the issue to comment also, perhaps it is an issue with my set up that can be corrected.

I do not have the technical knowledge on NextPVR to make any judgement but IMHO there is an interaction issue between Kodi and NextPVR when only playing HD streams, I get no problems with any other addon.

It's very true I am much more critical of users not posting logs then other users, but it gets tiresome having to request logs. Sub, Graham and I do it all day long. I really am hoping that users understand how important they are. However even after the github post you continued yesterday asking for support with with no kodi debug log so what word should I use other then waste time? I would much rather be spending this time working on the kodi addon then asking for logs.

I guess I should follow the LE approach and just ignore posts that I don't have information but that is not my nature. I take pride in my work, which is why I after wasting 100's of hours on the Kodi and testing NextPVR so that it works better for everyone when someone insinuates there is a code problem with nothing to back it up, what can should I say? Comments from other users without logs won't help. You don't know how bad it feels to read "Yeah I have that problem too".

Even the LE and Kodi developers will tell you there are problems with the RPi4 at this point. On top of that you are running the two different version of LE and I don't think that either are the current version. I don't know if that comes into play here but I am not going to try and figure that out. That is LE support.

When there is a good support question with full logs I will continue to support users. I think for now I will just ignore posts with no logs. I tried this before but it gets equally frustrating when I think I know what the problem but speculative posts can be a waste of time too.

I run Libreelec 9.2.1 (Kodi 18.6) on a RPi2 with knewc latest, but it's a bedroom TV that I watch if the kids have friends over and "occupy" the lounge set.

I rarely use the bedroom TV so any reproducible issue may not have been noticed. I might have experienced the freezing issue without knowing it the other night, but just rebooted the Pi. I will try and get logs for Martin if it does happen to me. I have been guilty of raising an issue and not providing logs so I understand Martin's frustration. He might come across as prickly on occasion but I really believe him when says he takes pride in his work as he drills down into it and worries it as far as he can reasonably go. He also rarely forgets a previous issue.
