I have noted over the last few days that whilst working on my Windows PC that approximately every 10 minutes the tray icon changes from green  to red for about 30 seconds.

This may be related to either the current build or inputting the EPG update time to 18.00  .

Due to issues in the past I had input the EPG  update time as 3  to resolve issues noted on https://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?tid=60624

Perhaps the original EPG issue has not been fixed.

Screen shot of status shown below.

I have now reverted the EPG time back to 3  and the tray icon has remained at green.

Thanks

Maurice

The screenshot shows that it is recording to "null.ts" ... this indicates that it is doing an EPG Update ... Tray icon colours are at ... https://github.com/sub3/NextPVR/wiki/windows-tray-app

Yes this is the problem I had 3 versions ago.

If I insert an EPG update time of say 18.00 it will try and update the Freesat channels every 10 minutes.

However if I insert 3 as the update time, it does not try.

Thanks

We are going to need some logs ... Set the update time to 18 ... Promptly reboot the computer to start new the log files ... wait for about 30 minutes ... post the logs ... https://github.com/sub3/NextPVR/wiki/get-help ... Thanks.

Sods law I have been monitoring this for hours and the tray icon has not changed colour to red.

I  installed Panasonic camera software last night which may have reinstalled/ updated  the  Visual basic runtime  otherwise no changes made to PC.

Logs attached just in case they contain some relevant information.

Regards

Maurice

There is some weird logic here NextPVR is setting the "next" EPG update in the past so it thinks it needs to do it right away.

Thanks Martin

Do you think that this is a bug which appears to affect my Hauppauge S2 card but not the TSB T2 card ?

What does the exact text look like in your Settings->Guide 'Times' setting? 3, 3:00, 03:00, 3000? Something else?

Hi Sub

The setting was set to  3.00 or 03.00 on the 28th March  as recommended by you  https://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.ph...ght=hansol
" 2020-03-28, 11:35 PM"
" For now, schedule your EPG update to happen overnight when you're unlikely to be using the machine, or be more careful if you manually kick off an EPG update."
as a temporary fix.

The problem in this thread (frequent updating of the satellite channels EPG ) only started again this week when I reset the EPG time to 18:00.

Having re-input the time again  appears to have resolved the problem for the moment. Please note that this machine is switched off every evening either manually or by using a scheduled task.

Thanks

Maurice
