Firestick TV 4K, Kodi and NextPVR - buffering / crashes

Not sure if mine is same issue as this but since it is Firestick 4K Kodi related figured I'd put in this thread. Let me know if I should start a new thread.

I'm having the opposite problem. Can view recordings without issues but live tv will crash kodi and require a firestick reboot. It doesn't seem to happen all the time. One night it ran for 3+ hours with no issues and other times it crashed in 20 minutes. Trying to get this running for older relative so not sure I'm always getting the exact details of everything about the situation.

The logs attached are from after a crash but also after a firestick reboot. Do I need to grab them before the reboot?

Your problem isn't quite the same since you aren't using 18.7 What is the your definition of crash having to power cycle the FTV? Also I would need Kodi debug logs. I can see

2020-06-29 18:52:41.387 [ERROR][8] Live stream expired without 15 second renewal. (handle:19000A)

but that looks like it came after the FTV closed the file yet it continued to try and play the AC3 stream.

I suggest a newer version of Kodi from the FTV thread mentioned in this post.

Just for completeness I wanted to report that since Amazon updated the firestick 4k to Fire OS 6.2.7.3 a few days ago the issues I was having streaming to Kodi on my Firestick 4K from my NextPVR server are completely resolved. The issue I was encountering was almost certainly to do with the Firesticks inability to cope with the dynamic changes between 1080i and 1080p stream (according to what I have read, anyway) which appears to have been fixed by the latest patch.

Based on a few days of use, and assuming no further changes, I would say it now makes the Firestick 4k a fine choice as a nextpvr client for streaming UK TV to Kodi

Note : I am running the Fritsch version of Kodi for Firestick.

Yes those transitions have been bad on on many players. Glad that the firmware update works and it should make the ATV 4k a much better client although stock Kodi can still not be recommended so Matrix or fritsch builds will serve users better.

Some addons can crash Kodi, so remove those you don't need. That also helps with the low memory on these devices.

Also note Kodi keeps the previous log so while it may be random send both logs when it crashes.

Use this advancedsettings.xml if you don't have have one to hide the debug logging.
