Hi,
I own a pvr250 tuner card and new Hauppauge 45 button remote. I am thinking of acquiring a different remote since the remote that came with it is starting to malfunction. A friend of mine has agreed to give me his remote and IR receiver that came with his media center 2005 system since he’s not really using his media center that often. I want to know if the remote and the IR receiver will work with my tuner card and be able to control GB-PVR even though I am not using MCE 2005 and doesn’t have it installed. If not, will I be able to use other versions of media center remote or different brand of remote. Thanks

System:
PIII 750mhz
256mb ram
MS XP home
PVR 250 tuner card

To be honest, I dont know if it works or not. I can confirm it works with the MCE 2004 remote, but I've no confirms about the 2005 remote. I'm guessing it would work.

I tried the MCE 2005 Remote with GBPVR configured for the MCE Remote and it did not work for me.

this may help. look at one for all remotes (thats the brand name) one for all / . I have the urc-9910 and you can get a code that works with hauppauge remote, It does not come with the code but you can call them and they will send the code via the phone (you hold your remote to the phone and it works like a modem) It also lets you controll almost every other device. I have had good luck with all their remotes and they are pretty rugged, example my daughter dropped it into a cup of coffee and the thing still works after I took it apart and dried it. I still have not tried all the keys but it seems to work so far. I will post my results later.

We had a thread going this route no that long ago.

The One-for-All remotes are the way to go for me. Using JP1 you can customize the remote beyond what One-for-all can provide. You can add extra funcitons, like aspect change (F7). And you dont need a new remote receiver. The Hauppauge receiver works fine. Not to meniton you can scale back the number of remotes on the coffee table. The name says it all - One For ALL.
