Hi all,

Generally, Schedules Direct do a good job of providing accurate data but there are occasions where information is incorrect.  I usually fix this by modifying npvr.db3 after the recording has been made.

This evening there is a show with bad EPG data so I thought I would try amending npvr.db3 prior to the recording.  I updated the database but when I ran the Windows client, the details reverted to the bad ones.

Is there any way to amend a pending recording and get NPVR to hold the new details?

Thanks,
Stanno

Generally, no - all recurring pending recordings are recreated each night after an EPG update, using the current data from the EPG source. If you're trying manually to update a pending recording (which is part of a recurring recording), it'll only use those changes if it does the recording before the next EPG update.

@Stanno can you give an example? Typically SD data gets better so future data might be generic an then it gets more accurate. I remember BrettB posted about this correction failing before. https://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?tid=59348

Hi, many thanks for the responses.

@sub, I realise that recordings are recreated after the EPG update which is why I left it until today to modify the database (4:00am : EPG update, 9:00am : Modify database, but, 9:05am : run client, old details are back).

@mvallevand, Martin, it was a program that I recorded last Friday (Have I Got News For You, 30 mins). There is then an extended version (Have I Got A Bit More News For You, 45 mins) which is being broadcast this evening. Each version has a separate Unique ID series but in the EPG, tonight's show has the same Unique ID as Friday so is incorrect and NPVR doesn't want to record it as it thinks it has done so already.

I hope that all makes sense.

I reported that to Schedules Direct https://www.schedulesdirect.org/lineupsupport they shouldn't have the same unique id.

Checking my filmon setup I do see the issue, can you just forget the current recording and have a rule to recording on BBC Two? Or maybe just record the series on BBC Two?

Thanks Martin, I hadn't realised you could report things like this to SD.

I set the extended version to record last evening and changed the title and unique ID in npvr.db3 this morning so it shows up correctly in Ready Recordings.

The next episode, scheduled for next Monday, was incorrect in the EPG yesterday but has the correct data today so was scheduled to record via the recurring recording.

Thanks for your help,
Stanno

No problem, when I first say the topic the URL is the first thing that came to mind, SD data is usually very good. You might need a new recurring rule to capture the new name.

Edit: Robert from SD got back on my request and it was the my request that triggered the change so it is worth asking if you have a problem.
