I have a Samba share from my Linux file server that I want to record to using my Windows 10 system.
I understand that the NextPVR service is running as the local system account.
I have read that my choices are either to mount the network share so it is accessible by everyone or else change the service to run under my account.
1. What are the security risks of running the service under my account?
2. For the other option, I am not sure how to change the share so it is accessible by everyone. Is there a permissions change that I can make through Windows?
I tried right clicking on the listing in file manager Video (\\192.168.1.12) (Znd changing the permissions for Everyone to Full Control but that did not help.
I am typing \\192.168.1.12\Video as the directory to add but it always says Directory does not exist. I also tried z: and z:\ but they did not work either.
If the permission change has to be made on the Linux server then I would still want the share to be password protected. How would I do that?
3. Also, if I add a local directory in addition to the network directory then will NextPVR fall back to the local directory if the network directory becomes unavailable?
Thanks.
