Last week I recorded a 2 hour program, Good Morning America. When I played it back, it was a nightmare time shifting. When I tried to jump ahead by 90 minutes, it would freeze and then go back to the beginning. I tried other V5 recordings and I encountered similar problems with time shifting including slowness.

Out of curiosity, I played several V4 recordings, including movies, and had very few problems time shifting.

Has there been a change to the recording format for V5?

My V5 backend is running on a Windows 10 computer. The client for all tests was a Raspberry Pi 4 running Kodi Matrix 19.1.0 (LibreELEC 9.97.1)

NextPVR V5 records the stream as-is just like V4. There is a serious bug in the current release that is causing issues if you have SD art enabled so you should turn that off which but that may or may not be the reason for the problems.

Assuming that is not it check this thread https://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=360399 Perhaps your recordings are on one of the channels like My or Retro TV that I know insert these graphics.

Also the RPi4 cannot h/w deinterlace 1080i so that could be another reason for random slowdowns.

To start debugging I would remux this file to mp4 with ffmpeg and then rename the ts file NextPVR should tell Kodi to play the mp4 file.

I just upgraded to LE 10.0 and tried time shifting the GMA recording I made last week and there was a lot of improvement. I was able to more quickly navigate back and forth while playing back the recording. Although there were still a few occasions when the addon mis-computed the destination back to the beginning, I was able to more quickly recover from the error.

If anyone else is experiencing similar problems with LE distros, I recommend upgrading to the latest version as soon as possible.
