I have been using NPVR happily for years with the living room TV plugged into the Windows PC. I would like to get a TV for the bedroom that can access the NPVR remotely. At first glance it looks like I will need to install an app on a smart TV, and Samsung seems to be mentioned most.
What do I need to look for in a smart TV? brands? any specific models or features to look for? any particular models?

This is a legacy forum and at the time fred250 was focusing on the Samsung I think which is why you see it referenced often.

For TV's there are clients for Android, Android TV, and Roku, and I think there was another one under development for LGOS. Most of these use the UI client interface so they look like NextPVR.exe but sub has an Android app too.

I personally wouldn't buy a TV because of their built in support, I'd focus on the features and price you want. You can add a TV stick or TV box relatively cheaply and the built in player could be obsolete before the TV.

The remote is important for NextPVR if you use the number keys so maybe check that out.

I would check the TV does the UK video resolutions and doesn't force everything to 60 fps like some of the cheapest models unless of course that doesn't bother you.
