My current NPVR system is based on a somewhat old piece of hardware (circa 8+ years old) and running Windows 10 with a Black Gold PCIe dual DVB-t and DVB-S tuners. This gives me 4 possible tuners for recording/viewing.
I'm also still on the old legacy V4 NPVR software (which I have to say works very well 99% of the time).

I'm looking to upgrade the core hardware to a new system capable of windows 11 with latest NPVR software and wondered if switching to using USB based tuners would be viable instead of trying to reuse the old Black Gold card (the manufacturer seems long gone and support non-existent)?
I was thinking of using the Hauppage WinTV-dualHD DVB-T and a couple of WinTV-UnoHD DVB-S USB tuners. The motherboard would support multiple USB 3/2 ports.

The wife often records multiple channels simultaneously whilst playing back previous recordings so that is a must capability. (works well on the existing system without any performance issues). Most recordings are now HD.

Has anyone got any experience or suggestion as to whether multiple USB tuners is a viable build?

The WinTV DualHD sticks are good. I haven’t had any issues with them.

My current system uses 5 of these on a.
Dell 3020
I5 processor
16gig ram
win10 pro

and works flawlessly. The only thing I did find out is that if you try to use a USB hub, you will have nothing but problems.
my system has been up and running without issues for about a year and a half now.

hope that helps.

Good to know but note this post is about DVB tuners not ATSC. Hubs and USB will be system specific for sure.
