Updated windows and Nextpvr

I just did a refresh of my windows and downloaded the latest nextpvr. Now when I try to play a recording the “play box” freezes and I only hear the sound, the only way to close it is ESC button and then it wants to delete because it thinks I watched it. I looked online and it looks like I need a older decoder. The video decoders I have are mpeg: Microsoft DTV-DVD, H264: Microsoft DTV-DVD.
I am not a computer wiz but it looks like might be a challenge to get one. Would it be simpler to install a Linux OS because the only thing I use this for is recording OTA tv? Or will I still have to learn a new computer language?Thanks for any help

Not sure I understand you say only use NextPVR for recording but the problems you have are with playing. It probably isn't a question of needing old decoders in NextPVR.exe, just install the 32bit version of the LAV decoders https://github.com/Nevcairiel/LAVFilters/releases and use those instead of Microsoft.

You can of course use Linux but it doesn't come with a player and if you aren't a computer wiz why would you even consider this?

Realistically the only way to get support for this is to understand what's causing your problem.
A start is to upload the logs from NVPVR after you've suffered the problem.
If you use the Web interface there's an option to extract the logs. 
You can the upload the file it creates to the forum for support.

I'm sorry I only use this computer for recording and playing ota tv. If I download the LAV-filters installer will it put them in the correct folder? Then can I just pull down the box and pick them? But THANKS

Yes, the installer will install them properly and they will be choices in the pick lists. Again make sure you select 32 bit version even on a 64 bit machine.
