Hi all.

My NextPVR is installed on a VPS, and I want to migrate it to another VPS offshore.

More specifically it is installed currently on a Oracle VPS in Johannesburg, and I suspect that server gets overloaded times, and I get buffering, especially in the evenings SA time, so want to migrate it to Amsterdam, where performance has always been better. I don't want to reinstall everything, as everything is set up in a specific way, so was hopeful to either export configuration, or copy the files with the configuration stored, such as channels, and EPG lists. and then re-import it on the new machine, and I could simply change the IP address of the new VPS, to that of the old one.

If it's not possible, I would rather NextPVR remain hosted in Johannesburg, than set up from scratch.

Thanks.

In theory you should be able to install NextPVR, stop the server and replace the data directory assuming the OS platform is the same and the recording folders are installed the same way

I would edit config.xml and remove all <PermanentSIDs></PermanentSIDs>

Thank you Martin for your insightful response.

Both machines are running Ubuntu, and are configured in a similar manner. The recording directory, is simply Rcloned to a OneDrive, but that can be linked on the new machine to an identical directory.

Where is the data directory by default, as need to ensure I am moving the correct folder.

Thanks

It's noted in the wiki which I guess no one reads. If you installed with the deb installer it would be /var/opt/nextpvr

Thanks for the reply!
Managed to carry the files across, but there is a communication issue of sorts - I get the web interface, and all the channels load in the web interface, if I delete an EPG, upon refresh it comes back, deleting channels don't work, and upon channel playback get "Error starting transcode: error: Internal Server Error"

I would post a log, but it seems even log files aren't being written to.

Please advise what I could be doing wrong.

Thanks so much.

If you have scripts in the scripts folder and you didn't copy over files with their permissions then the scripts won't work.

It sounds like permissions on folders too. Zippped logs are required next.

Sorted!

Was a permissions issue, after checking folder permissions for /var/opt, found they had been set to root, after comparing it with Johannesburg, and setting /var/opt/nextpvr owner to nextPVR, all working beautifully!

Thanks so much.

Have other issues I want to address, but will tackle them in the apropriate section.

Thanks again.
