In this thread, BlockShutdownForExtraSecondsAfterRecording was used to allow NPVRTray.exe to make a power request to keep the server awake while watching live TV or making a recording (and a few minutes after).

Yesterday while watching a 30 min recording from kodi over LAN the server hibernated twice freezing playback in kodi (hibernate after is 10 min on the Win 11 NextPVR server).

Today I checked with powercfg /requests and the NextPVR server makes absolutely no power request during the kodi remote playback resulting in Win11 putting the server to sleep mid-playback.

It would be great if the NextPVR service or tray app made the same power request during playback, including BlockShutdownForExtraSecondsAfterRecording, as it already does for live TV and recordings.

Thanks.

The same situation seems true for playback of any recording with a remote browser. i.e. remote playback doesn't leave a trace in powercfg/requests.
I agree that the ability to be able to detect playback and prevent sleep or shutdown would be advantageous.

Thanks @Bobins. I just tried playing a different recording with the web browser interface over the LAN using firefox and playback froze when the Win11 NextPVR server slept.

It's indeed not specific to using kodi as the playback client.

Win11 is so much more aggressive at putting the computer to sleep than Win10 was.

Usually just having disk activity is enough to keep Windows alive. Not sure why that is not the case there.

I remember WinSCP ran into this when Windows 11 started to be used. Whatever power request NextPVR is doing while recording and during live TV works great so the same during remote playback should be good too.

I could test a dev build as my NextPVR server reproduces this on demand.

If powercfg /requests shows an active power request during playback it's pretty much guaranteed to work though.
