Skipping while recording

I have set recurring recording for the evening news each night to keep only one recording.

Those recording cannot be skipped when it is recording, if you try It send you to the beginning of the recording.

All work as expected once the recording is completed.

However, recording that have keep all recording can be skipped while recording.

I included a log file.

It won't be that setting unless your drive is failing, I expect it is either the show, signal or thumbnail related. You need to tell use which client you use for playback and upload your zipped logs.

Yeah, it won't be anything to do with setting it to only keep one recording.

Where are you trying to watch this recording? NextPVR.exe, or the web app, or something else?

I am using UIdroid in GoogleTV, I changed my recording setting and erase the last recording of the news.

If I set a show to record in the future then log off the app. wait for it to start recording and start watching it, the skipping forward work as expected.

So will see tonight what happen.

You may wish to turn thumbnail generation off, that can definitely interfere with skipping in progress on UI clients.

I installed KODI and skipping work like expected. 

In the android app on Google TV with the thumbnail generation on, skipping sometime work, but it is not consistent. 

When the thumbnail generation is turned off, skipping seen to work all the time. (3 trials)

However, I really like the ability to skip with the thumbnail since it was easy to find the end of a commercial.  Without the thumbnail you have no visual cues so it is easy to go too far and then have to come back.

I always figured this was a thumbnail issue and one reason I asked for the log was to see how long it was taking to create them. Thumbnails are an excellent innovation in NextPVR but they take time to process and NextPVR has issues skipping once you get to an area that has not been processed. Here are some suggestions if you want to keep thumbnails for other things.

- turn off thumbnail creation while recording.
- use a better remote then the Goggle TV provides so that you can use manual (non-thumb skipping) keys when thumbs aren't available.
- wait longer before watching in-progress or just use live TV and live with the commercials
- extreme solution is a faster computer to run NextPVR.

There may also be a way for sub to avoid this, the trouble is it is hard to tell where the thumbnails end.
