Hi.   I recently purchased a new computer and have updated to this version of Next PVR.   A few things I am trying to address.  I turned on the Transcoding and see that the TS file is converted to MP4.   I am able to play via the server.  Client is installed on the same computer but it will not play the recorded MP4 file.   Is there something else I need to do?

Paul

Often there is no reason to transcode to mp4 using the built in transcoding since that option is really only optimized for the NextPVR web player. If you want to use it with NextPVR you need to make sure that Windows is configured to play mp4 files in 32bit mode. Typically this is done by installing and configuring both the 32 bit LAV decoder and splitter.

Thank you.   I want to decrease the file size so I am doing it using ffmpeg in the postprocessing batch file.

Since the two recordings you had were from an HDPVR that are already h264/aac there may not be significant change in size but there is a big impact on performance and likely quality since it is de-interlacing 720p and you could drop the bitrate that you are using now.

Your ATSC files will benefit if you use them lots so you would be better off with a post-processing script that could selectively transcoding shows you plan on keeping rather than auto-transcoding everything.

If you want to supply one of your transcoded files, I'm happy to take a look at it. In your logs it almost looks like it's ended up with audio/video in the file.

These days disk storage is pretty cheap, so unless you're running out of space, I'd probably advise just leaving it in the original format.

Thanks for the replies. I had not planned on bigger file sizes so will live with some reduced quality in the short term while I get other issues sorted out.
I was able to do that in the postprocessing batch file. Agreed I need to add more storage.

I have another issue but will submit it separately.
