mvallevandThe problem being discussed here is not the same as the we discussed here https://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.ph...pid=599079 specific to Kod.  Besides ATSC scans aren't like DVB scan either so in no way is this thread similar expect it refers to EPG.
The patch I linked you to in in the other thread should be fine for the Kodi file specific to the \0 problem.  I feel I keep asking you to try the same thing.  That patch my not work either and I explained I we might need the database.

In repsonse to the schedules direct comment above: I'm also in Phoenix & have the same issue with nextpvr. My Hauppauge Wintv10 software has no problem filling in the tv guide info for the channels that are missing info in nextpvr. I believe it also pulls it from the broadcast stream.. Plus it worked fine with version 6.

My comment was the Schedules Direct provides really good data, while using OTA is really hit and miss for quality and requires multiple updates a day, you can't typically even schedule shows in the future.  Sub knows about this ATSC issue with the broadcast stream and will work on it when he has time.  Until then you can get 7 day and 2  month trials from SD.

I see similar problem with my old version (6.1.5.231022) of NextPVR but I'm not sure it's a new problem.  I had been using Zap2It as my source for EPG until that all fell apart recently so I went back to ATSC EPG.  I was able to use Gracenote but the data is less complete in my area than it used to be.  With ATSC EPG, I was getting 24 hours worth of data for some channels and little or none with others.  I'm not familiar enough with NextPVR to know where to look for clues so I just started messing with the relevant settings I do know.

Anyway, I do think it is some sort of synchronization issue because I have been able to tweak my settings in NextPVR to obtain EPG over ATSC reliably now (fingers crossed).  I had to increase the Seconds Per Frequency to 120 - this helped the most with the reliability part (as in at least getting some fresh data with each EPG Update request).  However, I also had to force NextPVR to update EPG 4 times a day (evenly spaced every 6 hours).  I'm not sure if this has interrupted any Recordings yet but none have outright Failed (I haven't watched any to see if anything has corrupted them or whatever).  I do have a quad ATSC tuner, so maybe that helps with not having trouble doing so many EPG updates?

PS.  Oh, I meant to add that WinTV 10 from Hauppage has zero trouble getting the EPG data so, at least here (western US), it is an issue with NextPVR.

6.1.5 was not perfect for ATSC processing on Windows but some EPG data is send every 60 seconds so yes 65 or higher could be better than 60. Here are for OTA I could have a week, 24 hours 12 hours or none all of that is normal. I haven't seen the 6 hours that you see.

However unfortunately v7 has lingering bug in ATSC OTA EPG handling and we are still waiting for sub for that.

All that being said Schedules Direct is a bargain.

Its not just Phoenix it's all ATSC users.
