I have searched this forum and found similar questions and answers but wanted to ask my specific question to get an answer.

I currently have a Pentium 3 933mhz processor with 256 ram. I have two belkin 54mb g routers one as a router and the other as a bridge to connect my MediaMVP.

Will the Hauppauge PVR-350 enable me to pause live tv along with the other normal PVR functions. I thought that since the 350 has an encoder and a decoder most if not all the work would be done by the card and my system specs would not need modifications.

Thanks in advance

yeah the 350 should be fine there, i use to use a 350 to record and watch on a 2.6ghz and the cpu was only ever at around 10%. even when comskip was running at 95% of the cpu playback of mpeg2 files was flawless, so yeah it should work. on and my 2.6ghz also only had 256mb ram, but i would upgrade that to atleast 512.

Thanks for a fast response. Where do you recommend for the best price on a PVR-350? Or is there another card that will do the same but is less expensive.

well im in nz so there arent many options for them here, so i just bought it from the cheapest place i could. i have no idea where you could get one from. and you have to understand that the 350 will only playback mpeg1 and mpeg2 files, no dvds, no divx/xvid etc.

Would a Hauppage PVR-250 work with this system detailed above? Would I still get pause, livetv, etc. 250's are easier to find and a lot cheaper. Smile . I was just thinking...if the 250 has an encoder and the MVP has a decoder what do I need another decoder in the 350?

if i'm not totally mistaken, if you use the mvp, all your compy has to do is sending the mpeg-file/stream over the network (i do not own an mvp, so i _could_ be mistaken here *g*)

i'm using a pvr-350 in an overclocked pIII 800 mhz (~933 mhz)-system (just used for tv). works fine!

and i have no problem watching a recorded file over the WLAN network on my 'real' computer (meaning: the decoding of the file is done on the client computer).
AMD 1600mHz, 512 M RAM, 20+160 GB drive, Hauppauge PVR-350 + PVR-150 + PVR-150MCE, Win XP Pro SP3, using software decoding.

Thanks for the information. I guess this question really belongs in the MVP section.

Thanks
