Building a Linux box for NextPVR advice please

I installed it in Canada and Netflix etc worked and sub got one in NZ.  For sure you can't get TiVo services without a VPN.  I got it for the remote but it is a bit slower then current generation boxes but for UK OTA via a UI client no real problems since UI clients are not fast still about the PCH speed..  At least Amazon has good return policies.

Thanks for clarifying Martin. I'm not interested in TiVo services so that's not a problem. Running the TV aerial downstairs will mean OTA TV direct on the TV as it has a Freeview tuner built in - it also has apps for Netflix, Prime Video and UK on-demand like iPlayer and ITVX.

I'm much closer to deciding what I need. I might stick to Debian for the npvr server upstairs, run network cable and TV aerial downstairs and get a generic Android box for a npvr client connected to TV. I had thought about buying 2 or 3 of them to compare from Amazon based on the idea their return policy is good.

Whichever device(s) you choose, the small, inexpensive Android TV ones still seem to me to be the "best" client option (other than using a "native" client or uidroid on applicable smart TVs).
