NextPVR and IPTVBoss

Hi all.

I hope someone else here is familiar with IPTVBoss. I've been using it a few months with NextPVR.

In a nutshell - it's a playlist editor, allows creation / modification of custom EPG groups, moving channels, and individualised EPG sources for different channels. Then your customized EPG layout etc is uploaded to a Dropbox location you setup, and the Dropbox URLs to the EPG and M3U are what you point to for an IPTV device in NextPVR.

This works great, except for one question: if I make changes in IPTVBoss to EPG layout or even source for a channel, NextPVR never pulls these. It continues to pull updates to EPG guide data, but not the "layout" changes. The only way I've been able to get this to work is via deletion and recreation of the IPTV device, which is not a big deal if I wait for a window with no current recordings.

But is there a way I can do it without deleting / recreating the IPTV device?

What is a "layout" change? Typically you use a proxy to keep the m3u that NextPVR uses static. The proxy is supposed to hide your changes. If a rescan doesn't work with IPTV Boss then the m3u isn't static.

"Layout change" as in moving a channel from membership of one EPG group to another, or deletion or renaming of a group, etc.; also changing the EPG source for an individual channel, which can be done in IPTVBoss.

The m3u and epg urls that NextPVR is using are static - they are in my Dropbox, they don't change. Any changes I make in IPTVBoss are uploaded to there but the Dropbox urls themselves don't change, just the content of the files does, and reflect my changes. But the changes never appear in NextPVR unless I delete and recreate the device, pointing to those same Dropbox urls.

I meant the content when when I said static. A re-scan is typically for changed URL's.

If the tvg-id, name and the URL are staying the same sub will need to comment on whether a group-title change removes a row from the channel_group table and adds another. Sounds like it doesn't

After you make a change in your IPTVBoss, are you going in to NextPVR Settings | Devices | selecting the appropriate IPTV device | Update Channels (AKA rescan) to tell NextPVR to read the updated m3u file? It is not clear to me from your posts that you are doing this step.

I set up a test here and group-title don't get updated if nothing else changes with the API or from the web setup. I'd expec the log to show unchanged messages after each update.

Thinking about it more the delete from a group would have to be manual since it isn't stored with channel and a channel can be in multiple groups.
