Hi,

I've noticed an issue where after watching live TV and then closing the NextPVR client the process NextPVRServer.exe continues to prevent the PC from entering sleep. This only seems to happen after watching live TV and the only way to clear it is to restart the NextPVR service. After scheduled recordings end the PC is able to enter sleep mode immediately.

For example, about 25 minutes ago I stopped a live TV stream and closed the NextPVR client, but powercfg /requests still shows requests from NextPVRServer.exe.

Is there any way to prevent this and allow the PC to enter sleep after watching live TV?

I've attached the contents of the logs folder.

Thanks,
Alan

I thought powercfg scheduling is used for keeping the device awake, just for future recording. Your latest logs were about 30 seconds early, there is a 5 minute grace after the stop and before the "No longer active" message is in the logs.

Hi,

Just as an update to this - I've done some further testing and this only seems to happen if the channel is changed while in live TV mode. If watching a single live channel, when the app is closed the NextPVRServer.exe request is cleared, but if the app is switched to another live channel first, then when the app is closed the NextPVRServer.exe request remains in place until the NextPVR service is restarted.

Thanks,
Alan

Hi Martin,

I've just tested again and the powercfg request from NextPVRServer.exe is definitely in place when watching live TV and there is nothing scheduled to record for several hours.

I've just tested the following and have attached updated logs from 13:30 today:

12:50 - Started watching channel 101
12:52 - Closed NextPVR and NextPVRServer.exe powercfg request cleared within a few seconds
12:55 - Started watching channel 101
12:56 - Switched to channel 102
12:57 - Closed NextPVR
13:30 - NextPVRServer.exe powercfg request still present
13:32 - Restarted NextPVR service and powercfg requests have cleared

Thanks,
Alan

I always hit the "stop" button on the remote when done watching live TV on the client (kodi with NextPVR addon) and the NextPVR server cleans up its power requests after a grace period (as Martin said) and sleeps. Sometimes I change channels and I didn't see the server stay awake when I'm done.

Does hitting "stop" before closing the client make any difference?

Yes, I always hit "stop" before closing the client as well but it doesn't seem to make any difference. As long as I've watched more than one channel in the same live TV session the powercfg requests will remain in place until the service is restarted.

I have this in my config.xml which I think is the default. You could try a small number or zero.

Code:
<BlockShutdownForExtraSecondsAfterRecording>300</BlockShutdownForExtraSecondsAfterRecording>

Also send the zipped logs after waiting the wait period.

BlockShutdownForExtraSecondsAfterRecording was set to 10 seconds in my config file. I've just tested again and the NextPVRServer.exe powercfg requests are still there after over 10 minutes. The logs are attached.
