The audio will distort after watch live TV for a period of time ranging from a few minutes to about an hour on the web interface of NextPVR on Chromium browser. Tried to ask ChatGPT for help to fix this issue and drew a conclusion that the issue may be caused by the interaction of NextPVR web interface and Chromium browsers. I reckon ChatGPT generated a better bug report than me?. Follow is the bug report generated by ChatGPT>

Environment
NextPVR Version
  • 7.1.1.260616
Operating Systems
  • Windows 11 PC #1
    • AMD Ryzen 9 7940HS
    • AMD Radeon 780M
  • Windows 11 PC #2
    • Intel Core 2 Duo E8500
    • NVIDIA GTX 1660
Browsers tested
  • Brave (fails)
  • Google Chrome (fails)
  • Microsoft Edge (fails)
  • Firefox (works)

Problem
When watching Live TV or recordings using the NextPVR web interface in Chromium-based browsers, the audio eventually becomes robotic/distorted.
The time before the problem appears is random. Sometimes it takes only a few minutes, sometimes much longer.
The video continues to play normally while only the audio becomes distorted.

What I have tested
The issue occurs on:
  • Live TV
  • Recorded TV
  • Brave
  • Chrome
  • Microsoft Edge
The issue does not occur on:
  • Firefox (tested for more than 2 hours)
  • Kodi
  • Android client (Samsung A15)

Troubleshooting performed
I have tried the following without success:
  • Disabled browser hardware acceleration.
  • Enabled "Avoid transcoding where possible".
  • Disabled "Avoid transcoding where possible".
  • Tested using different audio devices:
    • Creative Pebble V3 (USB audio)
    • Lenovo L32p-30 monitor speakers (HDMI audio)
  • Installed the K-Lite Codec Pack.
The problem still occurs.

Additional testing
To rule out a hardware or Windows-specific problem, I tested a second Windows 11 PC with completely different hardware:
PC #1
  • AMD Ryzen 9 7940HS
  • AMD Radeon 780M
PC #2
  • Intel Core 2 Duo E8500
  • NVIDIA GTX 1660
Both systems exhibit the same robotic audio problem when using Chromium-based browsers to access the NextPVR web interface.

Additional information
I have screen captured a 10 second distorted audio video. Can upload it if needed.
I collected a Chromium media-internals log and a Network trace while troubleshooting.
I don't know how to interpret these logs, but I'm happy to upload them if they would be useful.

Question
Could you please advise what additional information or logs would help diagnose this issue?
I'd be happy to perform further testing if needed.

A little too much irrelevant information there and important information is missing. Usually best to start with the zipped NextPVR logs when the problem actually occurs. Stick with software decoding for now. Ideally with a recording where it is reproducible.

Where are your channels coming from? ie, a TV tuner, or IPTV, or somewhere else?

The channel is from the HDHomeRun tuner (an old model HDHR3-DT).

@Mvallevand. Will upload the zipped NextPVR log file after I reproduce this issue.

The log files size is only about 4MB. Do I need to enable debugging mode? Attach the zipped log files anyway.

Do you have a booster on your antenna. this looks too high?

2026-08-03 13:12:28.172 [DEBUG][4] locked=1, present=1, strength=100, quality=100 (took 891ms to check)

and that can negatively impact your signal, there is a lot of data corruption which is not under NextPVR control.

I live in an apartment. Don't know if a booster is installed.

Ok. I can still use NextPVR backend with the Kodi addon to watch and record live TV. I am just curious why this issue only happens in Chrome-based browsers.
