sub,

PLEASE could you in a future version, rename the entry in BDA.INI (and adjust the MDB on an upgrade) that says 'Hauppauge Nova-t (909)'?

All Nova-t PCI cards are #909 according to Hauppauge whether or not they are the older card with Technotrend hardware or the newer 90002 (Conexant?) cards. Somewhere along the line somebody forgot to tell the printing company to change the model number on the boxes when they brought out the new cards.

Using the '(909)' bit to refer to older cards confuses matters. I've seen this a lot here and also on the Hauppauge forum.

Cheers,
Brian

Unfortunately I cant rename it, or the people that current have it selected would end up with a broken setup.

I agree it would have been better to do this. I didnt know much about the various models when I started implementing DVB support.

Sorry to revisit this thread but I've come across someone else who, I think, is confused by the Hauppauge model numbering and the options in the Cap. Source setup. Looking back at a couple of other threads I think there may be more.

Shoot me down if I'm wrong but all it would take is a rename of the old style card in BDA.INI to [Hauppauge Nova-T (TechnoTrend)] or something similar. Then a change to the 'card_type' field in the BDA_RECORDING_SOURCE table in the DB during upgrade, to match that string.

Cheers,
Brian

What do think the two card names should be?

I don't know an easy answer...That's the really annoying part. Hauppauge basically confused the issue by changing the hardware but keeping the name and model #.

Keeping 90002 in the card name for the new-style cards seems OK to me as it's printed on the label stuck to the tuner. Dropping the 909 tag for the old-style cards would help reduce confusion.

Something as simple as [Hauppauge Nova-T (NOT 90002)] or just [Hauppauge Nova-t (old style)] for the older cards??? I don't know, it might look a bit naff but it might make people look twice at the card they have. If someone sees the current 909 bit and then checks their box, the chances are they'd go for that as the boxes don't have 90002 printed on them.
