Recommended procedure to Downgrade

Just wondering whats the best (best = easiest procedure to Downgrade? I want to go back to the last version I was running as I'm having issues with not being able to do MPEG2 on my TV Walker - only Mpeg4 is working.

Is there an easy way or should I uninstall?

Bugger - thought that may be the case - I just recently re-added my recording source so lost my references to previous recording anyway - is there anyway to re-add these to the database?

Each time I upgrade I always back up my entire gbpvr directory to a different location.

No, dont do this. The config.xml and gbpvr.mdb file will only work with the same version they were created with. If you copy them over a newer version, you will end up with a broken system.

While not terribly helpful at this point, you might want to consider keeping copies/backups of various files at each upgrade.

By doing so, you can copy those files as needed after a downgrade. You also have copies of those files for when (not if, when ) the access database gets corrupted. (not a ding on sub, it's not his fault access sucks)

Personally, I use a version control tool (subversion) to version some of the important files for gbpvr. It allows me to quickly and easily revert to a backup as needed, either with the current version, or a prior version.

You don't need to get fancy. Make a copy of your gbpvr directory before an upgrade, and keep it. It's not like it's a big directory. Rename the copy to reflect the version it is. If the new version isn't working out for you, you have everything you need to revert to the old one.

Thanks for clearing it up. Actually that's what I meant, if let's say i was using .92.8, upgraded to .92.11, then wanted to downgrade back to .92.8, i would follow your instructions for a clean install of .92.8, then copy over the backup .92.8 directory that i had saved elsewhere, overwriting everything.

That should revert things back to before the upgrade, right?

It doesn't matter, I'm happy with .92.11 Good job!
