Hello,

I was hoping someone would kindly answer some questions for me. Excuse my ignorance :o

1) Will RedRat3 USB work with a New Zealand Sky Decoder SKY STB ?
2) Will it drive channel changing on the SKY STB for GBPVR ?
4) Will all of the above work where I am using the iMON remote control and VFD receiver to initiate channel changing via the PVR software?
ie. Is it the PVR software that will make the call to use the Redrat device ?
5) Can more than one IR Receiver/Blaster exist?

Thanks, Stephan.

1) Should do, but I havn't tried it. I'm on TelstraClear cable TV here in Wellington.

2) Yes. Just so you know, using an IR Blaster adds about a second and half to the process of changing channels though.

4) Sorry, I dont anything about the iMON remote or it's VFD receiver. There is no built in support for these, but thats not to say they wont work.

5) You can have more that one IR Blaster, but they'll need to be different types of devices (ie, 1 x USB-UIRT, 1 x Hauppauge IR Blaster, 1 x RedRat3, 1 x Actisys IR 200L etc). IR Receiver software is typically external to GB-PVR so check with the manufacturer. Hauppauge's IR software only supports one receiver.

Hi sub,

Thanks so much for your response. It really helps.

Which is the most highly recommended IR Blaster for GBPVR ?

Thanks , Stephan Smile

I dont know. I mainly use my Actisys IR200L, but the USB-UIRT is probably a much better buy, and has more features.
