Hi,

The channel configuration is highly confusing. I'd suggest a complete overhaul.

But in the mean time, here's some small fixes that would make it considerably less confusing.

In the Channels tab. Do not have the Channel numbers, ad it's confusing changing them, and the channel numbers elsewhere. Since all you're doing their is allowing people to re-order channels as they like, have an up-down button to allow people to change the sequence.

In the EPG settings, be able to delete a channel manually, rather than delete the source and start again.

In the long term, I think the EPG settings should be completely seperate to your capture sources settings.

You should setup channels in one tab, and assign data to them somewhere else.

Good luck,

- Kevin

When I was first designing GB-PVR I opted for flexibility, which unfortunately also brings some complexity. I effectively implemented what was required for my setup, which has satellite TV with one setup of channels, cable with another set, and terrestrial with yet another.

Its not just about the order. This is also the channel number user enters if they want to view a channel. For example, if when I'm watching TV, I can type 5-6 to watch CNN on channel 56. This is USUALLY the same as the channel numbers listed in the capture source, but not always, particularly if you different programming from each capture source.

As an example: If two source use channel 56 for a different channels, then I may move one of my choosing to 58, which is still listed as 56 in the capture source settings so that when I change to channel 58 GB-PVR can send 56 out the IR Blaster to control the satellite box.

Why would you need to delete the source? Just disable the channel and you wont see it in the application any more.

If you can have a separate set channels for each capture (cable on one, satellite on one, and terrestial on another), how would you design it? The EPG channels for each capture source can be different, so it seemed the logical to associate the EPG with the capture source.

I know its complex, but I could really see any nicer way around this.

Ahh, it sounds like you had a lot of tough decisions to make regarding how to design it. I guess everyone's setup is very different and you have to cater for it all.

It's a great piece of software, but i'm having awful trouble getting it setup for my TV stations.

Hopefully I will do though, soon. And then I'll be sure to drop you a donation to keep it going! Smile
